Triptorelin Acetate

Authorised product

Synthetic GnRH agonist peptide

Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.

Research overview

Triptorelin is a GnRH agonist in which tryptophan in its D form replaces glycine at position 6, making it far more potent and longer-lasting than natural GnRH. Continuous exposure first stimulates and then desensitises the pituitary, lowering testosterone and oestrogen. Depot formulations such as Decapeptyl and Trelstar are used in prostate cancer, endometriosis and central precocious puberty, and a single dose can trigger final egg maturation in IVF.

Questions about Triptorelin Acetate

PRODUCT QUESTIONS
What is Triptorelin Acetate?

Triptorelin Acetate is the acetate salt of a GnRH decapeptide with D tryptophan at position 6. Depot medicines often use the pamoate or embonate salt instead, which dissolves more slowly.

What research has been published on Triptorelin Acetate?

Clinical research covers testosterone suppression in prostate cancer, puberty suppression in children with central precocious puberty, endometriosis, and agonist trigger protocols in IVF that lower the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. It is also used to study pituitary desensitisation.

What batch documentation should accompany Triptorelin Acetate?

Triptorelin Acetate: Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. Ask for mass spectrometry, HPLC purity, chiral purity at the D tryptophan, and a statement of the salt form, because acetate and pamoate behave very differently.

How should Triptorelin Acetate storage conditions be assessed?

Store Triptorelin Acetate dry at 2°C to 8°C or frozen, protected from light. Its tryptophan residues are sensitive to light induced oxidation.
