Alarelin

Early human

Synthetic GnRH analogue peptide

Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.

Research overview

Alarelin is a GnRH agonist with D-alanine at position 6 and an ethylamide C-terminus, giving more potency and a longer action than natural GnRH. It was developed in China and is used mostly in veterinary reproduction, for example to time ovulation in cattle and other livestock and in artificial insemination programmes. Human research is limited, mainly small studies of pituitary and ovarian responses.

Questions about Alarelin

PRODUCT QUESTIONS
What is Alarelin?

Alarelin is a synthetic nine residue GnRH analogue with D alanine at position 6 and an ethylamide replacing the C terminal glycine amide. It is often supplied as the acetate salt.

What research has been published on Alarelin?

Most studies come from animal reproduction: inducing and synchronising ovulation in cattle, sheep and pigs, measuring LH surges, conception rates and ovarian follicle responses. Limited human work explored pituitary stimulation and suppression, so it is best viewed as a veterinary and experimental agent.

What batch documentation should accompany Alarelin?

Alarelin: Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. Ask for mass spectrometry, HPLC purity, chiral purity at the D alanine and the acetate and water content.

How should Alarelin storage conditions be assessed?

Store Alarelin dry at 2°C to 8°C or frozen, protected from light. Like other GnRH analogues it is reasonably stable as a powder, but solutions should be kept cold.
