Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3

Preclinical

Lipidated tetrapeptide analogue(s)

Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.

Research overview

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, formerly called Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 and marketed as Rigin, is the lipopeptide Pal-Gly-Gln-Pro-Arg (Pal-GQPR). Its sequence comes from a fragment of immunoglobulin G. In keratinocyte and fibroblast assays it was reported to reduce interleukin-6 release, including after UV exposure, which is why it appears in cosmetic products aimed at visible signs of skin ageing. It is often combined with Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 in commercial blends.

EVIDENCE LEVEL Preclinical

Questions about Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3

PRODUCT QUESTIONS
What is Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3?

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3 refers to palmitoylated GQPR, a four residue peptide linked to palmitic acid. Tetrapeptide 3 was its earlier INCI name, so both labels describe the same ingredient.

What research has been published on Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3?

Laboratory studies examined whether the peptide lowers interleukin 6 secretion from skin cells at rest and after ultraviolet stress, linking it to the low grade inflammation described in skin ageing. The rest of the literature consists of patents and formulation testing, often in combination with palmitoyl pentapeptide 4, with few independent human trials.

What batch documentation should accompany Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3?

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3: Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. Because two INCI names circulate, confirm the sequence by mass spectrometry, check the HPLC purity figure, and ask the supplier to state which name the batch was released under.

How should Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7/3 storage conditions be assessed?

Store the dry lipopeptide sealed and refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C, or frozen for longer periods, away from moisture and light. The glutamine residue can slowly convert in solution, so test any aqueous formulation for stability over time.
