Tesamorelin
Synthetic GHRH analogue peptide
Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.
Research overview
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH): the full 44-amino-acid human sequence with a trans-3-hexenoyl group added to the N-terminus. The modification protects it from rapid breakdown by dipeptidyl peptidase-4 while keeping its action on pituitary GHRH receptors, raising growth hormone and IGF-1 within the normal feedback system. Randomised trials in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy found reduced visceral abdominal fat, leading to authorised Egrifta products for that narrow indication.
An authorisation applies to at least one defined finished product in a stated jurisdiction; it does not apply automatically to this catalogue material.
Questions about Tesamorelin
PRODUCT QUESTIONSWhat is Tesamorelin?
Tesamorelin is a synthetic growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) analogue peptide used in endocrine research, particularly studies of visceral adiposity in antiretroviral treated populations.
What research has been published on Tesamorelin?
Tesamorelin is a synthetic GHRH analogue whose clinical evidence centres on one population. Randomised studies in antiretroviral treated adults with HIV associated lipodystrophy found reduced visceral adipose tissue, with some lipid and liver fat findings also studied. FDA authorised Egrifta WR/SV products are indicated to reduce excess abdominal fat in HIV infected adults with lipodystrophy; this does not establish authorisation for general weight loss or for a catalogue material.
What batch documentation should accompany Tesamorelin?
Tesamorelin: Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. For a 44 residue modified peptide, ask for mass spectrometry confirming the hexenoyl group, HPLC purity that resolves the unmodified GHRH sequence, peptide content and the acetate salt content.
How should Tesamorelin storage conditions be assessed?
Store lyophilised Tesamorelin at 2°C to 8°C, protected from light. Its methionine can oxidise and the long chain can aggregate in solution, so reconstituted material should be kept cold and used promptly.
