GHRP-6

Early human

Synthetic growth hormone secretagogue peptide

Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.

Research overview

GHRP-6, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, was one of the first growth hormone releasing peptides, designed by Cyril Bowers in the early 1980s from met-enkephalin analogues. Its discovery led to the identification of the ghrelin receptor, before ghrelin itself was known. It releases growth hormone and strongly increases appetite. Preclinical studies also examined protective effects in heart, liver and nerve injury models, some linked to CD36 binding.

Questions about GHRP-6

PRODUCT QUESTIONS
What is GHRP-6?

GHRP 6 is a six residue peptide with two D amino acids and an amidated C terminus. It was the parent compound for later secretagogues such as hexarelin and GHRP 2.

What research has been published on GHRP-6?

Most research is experimental endocrine pharmacology: growth hormone release, appetite, receptor binding and pharmacokinetics in animals and humans. Preclinical work tested tissue protection in models of heart, liver and nerve injury. Human studies are mostly short term.

What batch documentation should accompany GHRP-6?

GHRP-6: Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. Ask for mass spectrometry distinguishing it from hexarelin, HPLC purity, chiral purity and acetate content.

How should GHRP-6 storage conditions be assessed?

Store lyophilised GHRP 6 at −20°C, sealed and protected from light, since its two tryptophans oxidise. Keep solutions cold and use them promptly.
