GHRP-2
PreclinicalSynthetic growth hormone secretagogue peptide
Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.
Research overview
GHRP-2, also known as pralmorelin, is a synthetic hexapeptide, D-Ala-D-2Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, that activates the ghrelin receptor and strongly releases growth hormone. It was developed before ghrelin itself was discovered in 1999. In Japan it was approved as a diagnostic agent for growth hormone deficiency. It also raises appetite, cortisol and prolactin to some extent. GHRP-2 is prohibited in sport by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Laboratory, computational, ex vivo or animal model research is the main evidence base.
Questions about GHRP-2
PRODUCT QUESTIONSWhat is GHRP-2?
GHRP 2 is a six residue peptide containing D alanine, D naphthylalanine and D phenylalanine, with an amidated lysine at the C terminus. It belongs to the growth hormone releasing peptide family.
What research has been published on GHRP-2?
Human studies measured acute growth hormone release, its use as a stimulation test for growth hormone deficiency, pharmacokinetics and effects on appetite and food intake. Laboratory work helped define how the ghrelin receptor works.
What batch documentation should accompany GHRP-2?
GHRP-2: Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. Ask for mass spectrometry, HPLC purity, chiral purity for the three D residues and acetate content.
How should GHRP-2 storage conditions be assessed?
Store lyophilised GHRP 2 at −20°C, sealed and protected from light, as its tryptophan and naphthylalanine absorb light. Keep solutions cold.
