Abaloparatide
Synthetic parathyroid hormone related peptide analogue
Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.
Research overview
Abaloparatide is a 34-amino-acid analogue of parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP). It acts on the same PTH1 receptor as teriparatide but favours a receptor conformation that gives shorter signalling, which is thought to stimulate bone formation with less bone resorption and less rise in blood calcium. In the ACTIVE trial in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, defined abaloparatide products reduced new vertebral and nonvertebral fractures and increased bone density. It is authorised as Tymlos and Eladynos.
An authorisation applies to at least one defined finished product in a stated jurisdiction; it does not apply automatically to this catalogue material.
Questions about Abaloparatide
PRODUCT QUESTIONSWhat is Abaloparatide?
Abaloparatide is a synthetic parathyroid hormone related peptide analogue used in bone and mineral research, including studies of bone mineral density and fracture biology.
What research has been published on Abaloparatide?
Abaloparatide is a synthetic analogue of parathyroid hormone related peptide that acts at the PTH1 receptor. In the Phase 3 ACTIVE trial in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, the defined clinical product reduced new vertebral and nonvertebral fractures and increased bone mineral density versus placebo over 18 months. Authorisation and use depend on the formulation, population and jurisdiction, and this catalogue entry is not evidence of a finished authorised medicine.
What batch documentation should accompany Abaloparatide?
Abaloparatide: Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. Ask for mass spectrometry, HPLC purity with deamidated and oxidised forms reported, peptide content and acetate content.
How should Abaloparatide storage conditions be assessed?
Store Abaloparatide refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C before use, protected from light, and do not freeze solutions. It is a 34 residue peptide and is more stable at mildly acidic pH.
