Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37)
PreclinicalModified endogenous incretin peptide
Research material. Not for human or animal consumption.
Research overview
[Arg34]GLP-1(7-37) is native GLP-1(7-37) with lysine 34 replaced by arginine. That leaves lysine 26 as the only lysine, so a fatty acid can be attached at one defined site. This backbone underlies liraglutide (a C16 palmitic acid chain on Lys26) and, with an extra Aib substitution at position 8, semaglutide. The unacylated peptide is used as a synthesis intermediate, a comparator showing what the fatty acid adds, and a tool in receptor studies. On its own it is broken down as quickly as native GLP-1.
Laboratory, computational, ex vivo or animal model research is the main evidence base.
Questions about Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37)
PRODUCT QUESTIONSWhat is Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37)?
Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37) is a 31 residue glucagon like peptide 1 sequence with arginine in place of lysine at position 34. It has no fatty acid attached and is the backbone used to build long acting analogues.
What research has been published on Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37)?
The peptide appears in literature on designing acylated analogues: comparing receptor potency with and without fatty acids, studying albumin binding and serving as a starting material for chemical or recombinant production. It is not studied as a medicine itself.
What batch documentation should accompany Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37)?
Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37): Ask for the COA and analytical reports for the batch being quoted. Ask for mass spectrometry distinguishing it from native GLP 1 by the lysine to arginine change, HPLC purity and peptide content.
How should Arg(34)GLP-1 (7–37) storage conditions be assessed?
Store Arg34 GLP 1 lyophilised at −20°C. Like native GLP 1 it can form fibrils in solution, so avoid agitation, keep pH away from its isoelectric point and use solutions promptly.
